Pick One ... Eat One

These Bear Lake raspberries were delicious!  Even Blake got into the action.  We lucked into choosing the prime picking day for raspberries and came home with two cases.

We ate them for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next week.  Nothing like fresh ripe raspberries and milk...or sometimes cream.

Remembering...

We remember Grandpa Wayne when...
We drive into the Bear Lake Marina...
We ride the tube behind Grandpa Wayne's boat...
We go swimming to earn our lunch...

We are allowed to honk the horn on Grandpa Wayne's boat...
We are playing at the cabin...
We are relaxing at the cabin Grandpa Wayne built ...
We are together as a family.  We love and miss you Grandpa Wayne!

Summer Camp with Aunt Becky

There are many reasons why I love when my sister, Becky, comes to visit.  She raised two boys and has great parenting advice to keep me sane.  Her week long visit should be called Summer Camp with Aunt Becky.  She pulls surprises out left and right for my boys.  One night it was a head lamp so they could make animal shadows on the ceiling.  Another day it was a plastic wiener dog that cuts your hot dog into bites.  So random and they LOVE IT!  We always do the zoo when she comes and take lots of pictures.
Polar Bear kept Louie mesmerized as he kept jumping off the ledge to swim belly up across the water.
Still loves Elephants!

Louie imitating the croc behind him!
Perfect ending to a hot day at the zoo!

Summer Rain

READY, SET, GO!
Love their reflection in the puddle just prior to pouncing!
What would we do without this truck?  It goes everywhere... the park, the sandbox, the beach and now the rain puddles.

Water and boys... always a winning combination!

Kaysville 4th of July Parade

Grandma Marcy, Louie, Julianna and Blake
It was so HOT!  The boys didn't care and were right out there clapping, dancing and RUNNING for candy and beads as the floats came by!
Otter pops, Diet Coke and popping an occasional candy in our mouths kept us going.
Happy Birthday America!

My Sweet Dad's 80th Birthday!

Dad, YOU LOOK FABULOUS!  The man is 80 and doesn't have one grey hair on his head.  He is a retired aeronautical engineer with 16 US patents.  He still  swims, plays the piano, has a beautiful voice and teaches math courses at a local college.  His favorite hobbies are watching flight videos on YouTube, watching Seinfeld and reading books on his Kindle.
Barbara, Dad, Mary Anne, and Rich

Dad and Mom
He doesn't travel much; so we all came to him.  We decided on a siblings reunion:  four of my five siblings and three of his four siblings.  The weekend went by too quickly!  We celebrated at Uncle Julio's with Tex-Mex and a huge chocolate cake.  Dad had never been to Costco (my parents belong to Sam's Club).  After lunch, we went on a little adventure to Costco where we put Dad in a motorized jazzy cart and puttered up and down the isles.  However, I think he spent most of his time with the piano vendor and test drove a few electronic keyboards.
Most of the weekend we spent at my parents house reminiscing stories from our days in Tennessee or my dad's childhood memories in El Paso, Texas.  When my dad is around his siblings it just opens up this part of him that I rarely see.  He becomes a very animated story teller with probably 65% facts and 35% for pure comic relief.  Not to worry, he had his sisters there to set the story straight.
Oh, he wanted to play games.  So Barbara comes up with this game that none of us as adults can keep straight.  It was difficult to stay focused due to the tears in our eyes from laughter, a few snorts and distractions from Rich (who wasn't into the game at all!).

It was a great celebration of my dad's 80th Birthday because it was all things my dad:  family, remembering stories of family and friends, Tex Mex food, games and a little shopping trip up and down the isles of Costco.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!  WE LOVE YOU!

End of Louie's Spring Baseball Season

Gosh, this has gone by quickly!  I can't believe we are the end of another season.  What are we going to do on our Thursday nights now?  Traditionally, we would watch Louie's baseball games.  Cody would help coach on the sidelines.  And I would chase Blake around the bleachers and watch him drench himself at the water fountains.  Afterwards, we would go out to dinner for burgers and fries.  It gave our weekends an early kick off!  Hmmm... what's next?

Two-Part Birthday for Blake!

Blake loves farm animals right now!  He takes requests to demonstrate his talent for imitating noises, "Blake, what does the cow say?"  Without hesitation, he promptly moos with a huge smile on his face; so proud of himself!  Hence, the inspiration for his birthday party with his friends.  Once all of his friends arrived, he made a guest appearance, threw a tantrum (over a balloon) that didn't seem to stop for quite awhile.  Clearly, he was exhausted since he had woken up at 5 a.m. for some unknown reason.  So after 30 minutes of being at his party, Blake went down for a nap.  He napped for four hours!  I think he was teething a two year molar.  Appropriate, right?
Well at that moment, Louie was happy to take over and show Blake's friends a good time at the party.  This is part one of Blake's Birthday...
Well, if you are going to be a farmer, then you need to have a horse.  We made our own hobby horses.

Well then you have to feed them!
As the horseys ate and ate, our farmers found surprises in the hay...
Cows!  Pigs!  and Horses! Oh my!
Afterwards, we sang "Old MacDonald Had a Farm"  and the piggies got out of the pig pen.  All the farmers had to round them up!  At this point, all the farmers were tired and went home for naps.  We had a great time but missed Blake!  A couple of hours later, Blake woke up much happier and ready to play with some farm stickers and eat his lunch!

What's not to love about a hot dog with cheese and BBQ sauce on a stick?!

Part-two of Blake's birthday played out a couple of days later once the molar had come in!

"Horsey, Horsey on our way..."

Looking for Horsey's friends.

And now all the hay needs to get sprinkled on the deck!

The piggies back in the pig pen; plus Blake and Louie.

One last ride on the Horsey.

It may have taken a week to pull off this two-part birthday party for Blake.  But the  most important part is that he loved it with his brother, Louie.
